Around her every Rib is wrapped
Pastel Patchwork Quilt
Hand stitched honeycomb
Encases her breathing

Her loose strings are always taken
By spring birds
Amelia’s color interweaved into all

Cotton against cotton
Her dress presses in
She finds release in a twirl
Falling into still morning pasture grass

She stares at her moment
Surrounded in a perpetual past
These feelings
Her permanent patterned emotions
Through the grass

She falls asleep
To his distant Mandolin
